The Department of Commerce, Prajyoti Niketan College (Govt. Aided and Affiliated to the University of Calicut), organized an academic seminar titled “Research Insights: A Roadmap for UG Projects” on 29th September 2025 (Monday) at 10:00 am in Assisi Hall.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Alan Lukose, Head of the Department, who highlighted the growing relevance of research skills at the undergraduate level and stressed the need for structured guidance for project preparation.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Simi Varghese, Principal, who motivated students to pursue research with curiosity and integrity. She also appreciated the efforts of the Department of Commerce in creating platforms that enhance academic quality and research orientation.
The invited resource person, Dr. Aparna Sajeev, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce & Management Studies, University of Calicut, delivered the seminar session. Her talk focused on the fundamentals of research design, problem formulation, literature review techniques, hypothesis development, data collection tools, and ethical considerations in project work. She also shared practical strategies for improving the quality of UG research projects and clarified doubts raised by students and faculty members.
The session was highly interactive and well received, providing valuable insights to undergraduate students as they prepare for their project work. Participants expressed that the seminar enhanced their confidence and understanding of research methodology.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. George Jose, Programme Coordinator, who acknowledged the Principal, resource person, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support.
The seminar marked a successful step toward fostering research culture among undergraduate students of the Department of Commerce.
