ABOUT THE LIBRARY

Prajyoti Niketan College Library offers students an excellent selection of Books, Journals, Magazines, e-information resources, CDs and audio-visual aids with Internet facilities. Library has a total area of 4050 sq.ft and Eighty two users can be accommodated in the library at a time. The Library has a collection of over 17,000 volumes and subscribes to prestigious journals and periodicals around the globe. Library enhances reading habits in students by creating a learning space which is computerized by establishing Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), Internet browsing area and laptop zone with Wi-Fi facility. The Library is computerized with circulation, information retrieval and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) using standard library software “Book magic”. In the year 2021 onwards library is using SLiMS (Senayan Library Management System), is a free and open source Library Management Software.

Monday – Friday: 8.00 am – 6.00 pm

Saturdays: 9.00 am – 4.00 pm

Membership
Membership of Library is open to all staff, students and Research Scholars of Prajyoti Niketan College. Guest Faculties are required to fill the Library Membership form signed by Head of the Department to borrow books from Library. The Library also welcomes Alumni, Students and Research Scholars of other institutions to use library resources with prior permission of principal.

Rules & Regulations

  • Identity Card is must for Library entrance and users should record their details in the gate Register.
  • Students are allowed to take only pen and paper inside the Library.
  • Keep your bags and personal belongings at the property counter near to the entrance.
  • Silence should be maintained in the library and its immediate premises.
  • Faculty can borrow 10 books, UG Students can borrow 3 books, PG students and Research Scholars can borrow 5 books from the library.
  • The Students are requested not to replace the books in the stack. Please leave them on the Chairs placed in the stacks.
  • Borrowed Books should be returned on the due date stamped on the date label in the book. A fine of Rs. 1 will be levied if a book is detained beyond due date.
  • Renewals are allowed only once for 14 days when there is no claim by others.
  • Loss of Borrowed books/Library Cards have to be reported immediately in writing to the Librarian.
  • Reference Books and Dissertations will not be lent out.
  • Students are not allowed to exchange Library Books/Library Cards

  • N-LIST

    Prajyoti Niketan College is registered for the N-LIST programme, which is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under the National Mission on Education through ICT. The N-LIST project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions.

  • National Digital Library of India:

    National Digital library of India is a project under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India. The objective is to collect and collate metadata and provide full text index from several national and international digital libraries, as well as other relevant sources. NDLI has been developed by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. It is single window platform that collects resources from premier learning institutions in India and abroad and other relevant sources. It is open to all at free of cost.

  • Magzter

    The College Library subscribes to Magzter, which provides access to 8000+ Online Magazines, Journals, Newspapers, E- books etc in many languages including English, Hindi, and Malayalam. The Database is available to students and staff in the library.

LIBRARY COMMITTEE

The Library committee is constituted to forward recommendations to the management regarding the functioning of the Library. The committee members consist of the Principal, the Librarian, the Heads of the Departments and a student representative.
