The NSS Unit 85&183 of Prajyoti Niketan College organized an anti-drug awareness programme titled “Embrace Life, Not Drugs” on 6th November 2024 at Assisi Hall. The session, aimed at educating second-year students about the dangers of drug abuse, featured Mr. Sabu C.A., a retired Assistant Excise Inspector with extensive experience in drug prevention and enforcement.

The programme commenced at 2:15 pm with an introductory address by the NSS Programme Officer, who emphasized the significance of raising awareness about drug abuse among youth. The students were welcomed warmly and encouraged to actively participate in the session.

Mr. Sabu C.A., known for his expertise in drug prevention, delivered an impactful talk on the theme “Embrace Life, Not Drugs.” He shared real-life experiences from his service as an Excise Inspector, illustrating the severe consequences of drug addiction on individuals and families. His talk covered the following points:

  • The psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
  • Common myths and misconceptions about drugs.
  • Legal repercussions of drug possession and usage.
  • How to identify early signs of addiction and steps for intervention.
  • Interactive Discussion:
    The session included an interactive segment where students asked questions and shared their concerns. Mr. Sabu provided valuable insights and practical advice on resisting peer pressure and making healthy life choices.

The event ended at 3:45 pm with a vote of thanks by the NSS Programme Officer, expressing gratitude to Mr. Sabu C.A. for his enlightening session and to the students for their active participation. The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, and they appreciated the practical insights shared by the resource person.

The anti-drug awareness programme successfully achieved its objective of educating the students about the perils of drug abuse and empowering them to make informed choices for a healthier future.
