The Department of Commerce was established in 2013 with the launch of the Aided B.Com Finance Programme affiliated to the University of Calicut. Since its inception, the department has consistently aimed to mould commerce professionals with strong expertise, competence, and a deep sense of social responsibility.

In 2024, the department introduced the Calicut University FYUGP B.Com (Honours) Programme with a specialization in Finance, in line with the revised curriculum framework.

The department follows a practical and student-centric teaching methodology, incorporating case studies, internships, field visits, project work, national and international seminars, and regular interactions with industry experts. Complementing the academic programme is a holistic educational approach that emphasizes value-based education, value-added courses, and active engagement in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

Maintaining a tradition of academic excellence, the department has achieved a pass percentage of over 93% consistently since its inception.
