Cleaning Drive at Pudukad Town


As part of the Kerala Piravi celebrations and the commitment to community service, the NSS Unit of Prajyoti Niketan College, in collaboration with Kodakara Block Panchayath, organized a town cleaning drive at Pudukad on 1st November 2024. The event aimed to promote environmental cleanliness and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy public space.

Inauguration: The event was inaugurated at 8:00 am by the Honorable MLA of Pudukad, who addressed the volunteers and local residents. In his inaugural speech, the MLA highlighted the significance of collective efforts in ensuring the cleanliness of public areas and appreciated the NSS volunteers for their initiative and active participation in the community service project.

Activities:

  • The cleaning drive covered key areas of Pudukad Town, including the main market, bus stand, and surrounding streets.
  • NSS volunteers, equipped with gloves, masks, and cleaning tools, worked diligently to remove waste, plastic, and other debris from public spaces.
  • The team also interacted with local shopkeepers and residents, urging them to maintain cleanliness and avoid littering.
  • Placards with slogans promoting cleanliness and waste management were displayed to raise awareness among the public.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, who demonstrated great teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility. Their efforts were well-received by the local community, and several residents joined the clean-up activities, further enhancing the impact of the drive.

The town cleaning drive concluded at 10:30 am with a brief closing session where the NSS Programme Officer expressed gratitude to the MLA, the Kodakara Block Panchayath, and all the volunteers for their valuable contributions. The event successfully instilled a sense of civic duty among the students and residents, reinforcing the importance of a clean environment for a better quality of life
